Georgia's Todd Gurley was named the SEC's freshman of the week after running for 130 yards and two touchdowns against Vanderbilt. (Associated Press) Georgia running back Todd Gurley continues to turn heads throughout the SEC -- the latest belonging to Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, who watched the true freshman run through his defense for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 48-3 win.
"I do think the back makes a tremendous difference," Franklin said of Gurley, who has now run for more than 100 yards in three of his four games. "You're talking about a 230-pound guy who gets downhill and is as big and as impressive a freshman running back as I've seen." Tennessee defensive coordinator and former Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri, whose Vols have the next shot at trying to slow down Gurley, compared him this week to former Crimson Tide great Trent Richardson, according to CBS' Daniel Lewis. Gurley's Georgia teammate, safety Shawn Williams, made the same comparison before the season.
