Georgia Bulldogs Face Off With Michigan State in The Outback Bowl

The Dawgs are Back

The Georgia Bulldogs & Michigan Spartans will square-off in the Outback Bowl on January 2nd in Tampa, bowl officials announced today. It is a match-up of 10 win Division Champions from two of the most prestigious conferences in college football – the SEC and Big Ten. The Spartans are ranked 12th in the AP Poll while the Bulldogs are ranked 18th.Read the full story.

Georgia still had a Sugar Bowl berth on its mind when it dominated top-ranked LSU in the first half of Saturday's SEC championship game. But LSU ripped through the Bulldogs in the second half of its 42-10 win, clinching its spot in the BCS title game and dropping Georgia into a non-BCS bowl.

Meanwhile, Michigan State dropped a 42-39 heartbreaker to Wisconsin in the inaugural Big Ten championship game and barely missed a chance to play Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

Tickets to the 2012 Outback Bowl are on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster. The bowl will play host to teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference on Monday, January 2nd in Raymond James Stadium. Kick-off time is 1:00 P.M. ET.

Georgia Bulldogs Clinch SEC East With Win Over Kentucky

ATHENS, Ga. Article Link -- One of Mark Richt’s celebrations was premeditated, and there was no way it could be a disappointment. The other one was spur of the moment, and didn’t go as well. Not that the once-beleaguered Georgia coach cared.

Before Saturday’s 19-10 win over Kentucky, with the SEC East title on the line, Richt told his Georgia football team that if they got him a win, he was going to find his wife, Kathryn, and plant a kiss on her on the field.

Richt followed through with the display of public affection, on the Georgia sideline in front of thousands of cheering fans. It was a heartfelt moment, a culmination of good feelings after so many rough times the past few years.

But riding their stout defense, and doing just enough on offense, proved to be enough to clinch Georgia’s spot in the SEC championship game. The 13th-ranked Bulldogs will face No. 1 LSU, No. 3 Alabama or No. 6 Arkansas.

Georgia (9-2 overall, 7-1 in the SEC) certainly will not be the favorite in that game, and critics will say it is a product of its schedule. But considering where it was last year and the 0-2 start this season, players and coaches didn’t seem to care:

Big SEC Game This Weekend UGA vs Awburn

Big Game Ahead For The Dawgs!

Best video of all time - I can attest to this since I was at the game (attended 5 Barnburners in a row) and loved every minute of this!

The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry is the name given to the college football rivalry between the Auburn University Tigers and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. The two schools first played each other on February 20, 1892 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia, with Auburn winning 10-0. The teams have played each other almost every year since 1898, with only World War I and World War II preventing games from being played.

Through the 2010 season, the rivalry is tied for the seventh most played college football series at 114 games and is known as being quite even, with Auburn holding a 54-52-8 lead. To further exemplify the equality of the rivals, Georgia leads the cumulative score by thirty-eight points: 1,809-1,771, or a per-game average of 15.86-15.53. When the Southeastern Conference split into Eastern and Western divisions with Auburn in the West and Georgia in the East, the game was designated as the two teams' permanent inter-divisional match-up as an historic rivalry. Though the two teams have been among the league's most successful since 2000, they have yet to meet in a re-match in the SEC Championship Game. A first such meeting would cause this rivalry to be tied with the South's Oldest Rivalry in number of games played, and a second such meeting would cause this rivalry to surpass the South's Oldest Rivalry in terms of games played (though not in continuity).

Georgia Bulldogs Beat The Florida Gators 24-20 and Earn 6th In a Row!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Georgia coach Mark Richt took several steps toward midfield with his son draped around his neck. His players and assistant coaches were in the background, celebrating in the same end zone that caused such a stir during the Bulldogs' last win against Florida.

Richt may have saved his job with two gutsy, fourth-down calls that resulted in touchdowns, and No. 22 Georgia overcame several mistakes to beat Southeastern Conference rival Florida 24-20 Saturday.

"I know it was just a ballgame, but it seemed like a lot more than that," Richt said. "Just to see our players and fans celebrate, in this place especially, was awesome."

Georgia kept pace with South Carolina in the Eastern Division, and maybe more important, the Bulldogs picked up their fourth win in 22 tries against Florida. This one was huge for Richt, who had been under pressure since losing to Boise State and the Gamecocks to open the season.

Richt gets 100th win, Georgia tops Tennessee 20-12

Published Saturday, October 8, 2011

Isaiah Crowell ran for two touchdowns as Georgia beat Tennessee 20-12 on tonight to give coach Mark Richt his 100th career victory.

The win keeps the Bulldogs (4-2, 3-1) in a two-way tie with South Carolina for first in the Southeastern Conference East Division.

Tennessee (3-2, 0-2) had the Bulldogs stopped at the 9-yard line when the Vols' Daryl Vereen was called for pass interference, giving Georgia a fresh set of downs at the 2. Crowell ran three straight times, the last a 1-yard run that gave the Bulldogs a 13-6 lead with 8:19 in the third quarter.

Texas A & M Headed to The SEC Conference

Texas A&M officially joins Southeastern Conference
by David Paschall

Southeastern Conference presidents and chancellors, acting unanimously, announced today that Texas A&M University will join the league effective July 1, 2012, with competition to begin in all sports for the 2012-13 academic year.

“The Southeastern Conference Presidents and Chancellors are pleased to welcome Texas A&M University to the SEC family,” said Dr. Bernie Machen, chair of the SEC Presidents and Chancellors and president of the University of Florida. “The addition of Texas A&M University as the SEC’s 13th member gives our league a prestigious academic institution with a strong athletic tradition and a culture similar to our current institutions."

“The Southeastern Conference provides Texas A&M the national visibility that our great university and our student-athletes deserve,” said Texas A&M University President R. Bowen Loftin. “We are excited to begin competition in the nation’s premier athletic conference. This is a 100-year decision that we have addressed carefully and methodically, and I believe the Southeastern Conference gives the Aggies the best situation of any conference in the country.”

UGA's Coach Mark Richt is Out! The Hot Seat Has Now Burst & Time To Fire CMR!

CMR It's Time To Part Ways

I have a Huge Dawg fan, I am an even bigger fan of winning Football games and guess where the state of Georgia's football program is at currently? I guess you could say it's been a program on the downward spiral for the last few years!

Do you own stocks? Do you own stock in Georgia's football program? I think most of us do and when you notice something that is not working, no changes being made and this Historic program is headed towards a dorection that we haven't seen in some time it's time for a Coaching change.

I am and have been a CMR fan, one thing that has changed has been the direction of the program, whether the loss of control in athletes in 2010, his stupendous decision to keep Coach Bobo "Bozo" around for some reason, his reason to not take over the offensive play calling or about 30 other areas I could list makes this a sinking ship for the Georgia Bulldawgs.

Stats Don't Lie:
First loosing season last year in 14 years
First 0-2 start in 16 years

0-3 in our last 3 games?

20-17 in our last 37 games

12-12 Mark in the SEC
Spurrier owns us once again!
CMR vs Florida still is 2-8 and winning last 3 games!
UT heck they still beat us!
Top 10 recruits annually = nothing??

Make the Pain Go Away Pleaaase!

Take a look at where Georgia is and our Talent pool folks!
Auburn recruits close by and they've won a Championship
Florida recruits close by and they've won multiple Championships
Alabama recruits close by and they've won recent Championships
Even UT recruits close by and they won a Championship back in the 90's!!!

ESPN Herschel Walker Storied Documentary Series Starts!

Everything You Need To Know About Herschel
Espn Link Check you local listings

Herschel Walker, star of the documentary "Herschel," will be forced to miss Wednesday's premiere.

"I have to head back to Arkansas for a sales meeting at my chicken factory," Walker said Wednesday afternoon at ESPN's campus in Bristol, Conn. "I have a regular job. I have to go back to work."

That's the Herschel Walker most people don't know. He isn't about the glitz. He isn't about accolades. He's about getting back to work.

Most people are only familiar with Walker's athletic achievements. He won a Heisman Trophy at the University of Georgia, played in the defunct USFL for three years and the NFL for 11 years. He finished seventh at the 1992 Winter Olympics in the two-man bobsled and now is trying his hand at mixed martial arts.

"They don't know that I have this food service company; I have a drapery company and I supervise six hospitals around the United States," said the 49-year-old Walker, who spends most of his time in Texas, in order to be near his 11-year-old son. "I've done so much more outside of sports. I never let the grass grow under my feet. I'm always moving."

That's what Walker hopes fans will see when they watch his movie. ESPN created four one-hour documentaries highlighting the traditions, rivalries and unique stories of the Southeastern Conference. The "Storied" series will debut on ESPNU on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, with the first one focused on Walker.

Georgia Bulldawg Matt Stafford in The NFL Ready To Make a Statement

Stafford Set To Go
Article Link

Stafford shined in the Lions pre-season opener. If the Lions want to return to the playoffs, Matthew Stafford needs to stay on the field.

After ending last season on a four-game winning streak, there are high hopes that the Detroit Lions will be able to take a big step towards respectability.

Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has done a masterful job of repairing the damage that was done to the franchise during Matt Millen's reign of incompetence.

Mayhew has assembled top notch young talent on both sides of the ball, including last season's defensive rookie of the year, Ndamukong Suh.

Georgia's Football Coach Mark Richt Talks About Upcoming Boise State

Don’t ask Georgia’s live mascot about last season’s 6-7 record because Uga’s answer is always “ruff.”

But it was rough. The Bulldogs ended with a Liberty Bowl loss to Central Florida and grumbling about coach Mark Richt.

Someone recently asked Richt to offer a devastation impact report.

“Devastation means you’ve, like, blown up the program and it’s beyond repair,” Richt said. “So I don’t think it was devastating. But it was awful.”

The problem with Richt averaging 9.6 wins per season is that none of the seven Bowl Championship Series trophies captured by the Southeastern Conference says “Georgia” on it.

The Bulldogs seemed on the cusp when they entered the 2008 season ranked No. 1, but the only No. 1 who emerged was quarterback Matthew Stafford, the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

There’s a sense the program is sliding, and it didn’t help that former Georgia quarterback Fran Tarkenton pretty much said that.

“The past is the past,” cornerback Brandon Boykin said. “What happened last year, nobody is really proud of.”

Georgia’s possibilities cut a wide swath. The Bulldogs play Boise State in Atlanta on Sept. 3 and then host South Carolina.

Georgia Bulldog Team Looses Another Top Running Back...Not Looking Good!

Caleb King is Out at Georgia
Story Link

Here we go again, in 2010 it was our off the field issues. For 2011 it's "who's going to be our running backs this year?"

Georgia running back Caleb King has been ruled academically ineligible, Georgia’s athletic department confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday.

King, a senior, did not meet the NCAA’s satisfactory progress requirement for eligibility. That kicks the door wide open for incoming freshman, Isaiah Crowell.

Caleb King missed last season's bowl game because of another academic issue. Crowell, considered the nation’s top running back recruit, will hopefully take over the reigns and make an immediate impact with the Bulldawgs.

Weekend Getaway In Aspen..Hard To Beat!

The Off Season in Aspen is Hard To Beat

When the weather starts to warm up and Summer is right around the corner, it's time to head to the Mountains again for some fun. For captivating views and the Lodging prices that get slashed....it's time to head to Aspen again . This time was different, I spent a Fantastic weekend with my Fiance in Aspen and enjoyed every minute of the off season here. We stayed at the The Innsbruck Inn, a sweet place that not only is right in town but also set us up with some local trails to hike with no one around.

Yes I love to fish but this weekend had other intentions and one that still reasonates from all the fun we had, only a few moments fishing but with all the trips I've had this Spring, it wasn't that big of a deal not to fish.

pantripengaged211jeromey2skier
I fished the Frying Pan River for a bit but few hatches suprisingly. (middle pic)Having a little wine on top of Sunnyside Mtn. Closing down the Bar at the Hotel Jerome "J-bar" no better place to be, especially when you have Ditty a fellow Georgia Bulldog serving up some strong liquor drinks all night! (below-Maroon Bells Fall 2002)

maroon88

Too bad the Maroon Bells road was closed, too much snow apparently. They had 8" of snow right before we got there but fortunately we had nice weather with even 75' one day. If you do want to make the trek to Maroon Bells, it's 7 miles in and 7 miles out...that makes for one long day! Can't wait to get back there again.

If you can schedule it right and save a few pennies, try and make it to the Aspen Food & Wine Festival...talk about a wild weekend that is each year!

Bulldogs, Jaguars set for Golf NCAA title

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Carter Newman birdied the first playoff hole Saturday to beat Oklahoma State’s Sean Einhaus and lift defending champion Augusta State into an all-Georgia final round at the NCAA men’s golf championship.

Newman hit clutch putts on the 17th and 18th holes to keep the pivotal match going, then pumped his fist after dropping the winner on the 14th green. Augusta State claimed a 3-2 victory in the match-play semifinal, beating the powerhouse Cowboys in a rematch of last year’s final.

Washaun Ealey No Longer A Bulldog..Time For A Change!

This isn't the most surprising news, and now it's official. Here's the release that Georgia just sent out: Article Link via Bulldogs Blog

ATHENS - University of Georgia tailback Washaun Ealey has been granted an unconditional release to transfer to another institution for the 2011 academic year according to UGA head coach Mark Richt.

"Washaun and I have had several conversations in recent weeks," Richt said. "We both have come to the conclusion that a transfer to another institution would be in his best interest."

A rising junior from Stillmore, Ga., Ealey has played in 21 games including nine starts during his two-year career at UGA and rushed for 1,528 yards (717 in 2009 and 811 in 2010).

2011 NFL Draft and What Bulldawgs Were Taken

With the fourth pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Adriel Jeremiah Green has gone to the Cincinnati Bengals.

What does this mean for fans of A.J. Green’s new team? It means they now get to root for a top-flight wide receiver and (now that he’s allowed to make money off of sales of his jersey) a top-flight individual.

Ere I offer a career-concluding paean to the Summerville, S.C., native, I must confess in all candor that we in Bulldog Nation are rather rough on the fellows who split out wide. As I noted upon the departure of Mohamed Massaquoi:

University of Georgia Bulldogs Spring G-Day Game Recap!

Black Tops Red on G-Day

Article Link ATHENS — A freshman quarterback still learning the playbook, Christian LeMay, led the winning touchdown drive. And a walk-on safety from Duluth, Connor Norman, called attention to himself.

Those were among the highlights of Georgia’s G-Day spring intra-squad football game, won by the Black team 18-11 over the Red team Saturday afternoon in Sanford Stadium. “I think we all feel positive about who we are, what we are about and what we can do this fall,” starting quarterback Aaron Murray said after the game, which completed Georgia’s spring practice.

Whad Up Tressel...When Will It Stop?

Ohio State State Taking Action...Yeah Whatever! Story Link

It’s clear that The Ohio State University is not going to take any further action against football coach Jim Tressel. The more this mess drags on, the more surprised I am that they did anything at all. So it’s time for the NCAA to step up its investigation into Tressel’s actions.

From the time this story broke, it’s been clear that Athletic Director Gene Smith and university President Gordon Gee work for Tressel, not the other way around. Gee’s joke that he just hoped Tressel wouldn’t fire him should have led to Gee’s immediate dismissal

Weather Stalls Bulldogs' Fourth Spring Practice

Let The Games Begin!
Link

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia’s football team returned to work on Saturday morning, but had its practice cut short by a thunderstorm rolling through Athens.

The Bulldogs started their fourth spring practice of the year at Sanford Stadium as the team hosted its annual spring Junior Day for future prospects. But 30 minutes into warm-ups, rain, along with thunder and lightening, forced the practice to be cancelled.

The 2011 season will mark the second campaign that redshirt sophomore Aaron Murray will direct the offense at quarterback. The Tampa, Fla., native earned Freshman All-America honors after finished the 2010 season with 3,049 passing yards, which ranks second in Southeastern Conference history for freshman quarterbacks, and 24 touchdown passes.

Costa Rica Vacation..Can't Wait To Get Back For More

Pura Vida Baby

Just returned from another great trip to Costa Rica again! What made this trip more special is that I got to introduce someone else to my favorite fishing country -my girlfriend. Each time to get back to Costa Rica I gain a new perspective about the people of Central America, the incredible seafood dishes, cold Imperial Cerveza's, easy flights to San Jose (5 hours direct) and most importantly, how easy it is to relax down there. Yes we were able to find plenty to do each day and the sunsets in this part of the globe are nothing short of spectacular to say the least! Each evening was a treat to watch these and even better to enjoy them with some Cold beers or a fresh Mojito. While the weather was predicted to be rainy each day, the only thing that dampened our spirits was that I wasn't able to spend more time ut on the water fishing. Yes this was a sweet vacation, a fishing vacation..perhaps not this time, but I still managed to enjoy a day out on the water. The only true mistake I made was our guide. Pez Rey is not somebody I would use again, huge issues with the outfitter than nothing like sitting there for hours bored while our guide tries to figure out what to do, keep me sitting there while other boats are hooking up?? Pepsi our guide was a decent guy he just was a bit clueless this day. One Jack and two breakoffs on Mackeral (use bigger mono guide) were the only thing that came my way. NO Roosterfish made it to my rod so it looks like I lucked out on another Costa Rica trip without any good stories.

Monkeying around at our Hotel Bar each afternoon after a trip to the Playa (beach for those who do not understand Spanglish) made a dip in the pool, more cold beers and Monkeys playing! Yes this is Costa Rica, you never know what to expect.

Gorgeous Pacific waters made for a nice sightseeing trip since the fishing stunk. Clear water, high tides and crazy riptides made for an interesting boat ride that day. There is always plenty to do while in Costa Rica while on vacation, from Sea Kayaking, Canopy zip line tours, < Happy Hours, Surfing and visiting local national parks. *Look for more great reports and pictures this week from our trip...I have a feeling you will enjoy them!

UGA VIII Passes, One Great Bulldog That Will Be Missed!

ATHENS – Uga VIII died Friday, at not quite 17 months old and after only a half-season as the University of Georgia mascot. The white English bulldog was diagnosed early last month with lymphoma, a common cancer in dogs. “We all mourn the loss of Uga VIII, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Seiler family at this time,” said Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity, referring to the Frank W. “Sonny” Seiler family of Savannah, long-time owners of the Uga line of mascots. Uga VIII, born Sept. 12, 2009, took over as the Bulldogs’ mascot at the Oct. 16, 2010, homecoming football game against Vanderbilt in Sanford Stadium. He served for the final six games of the regular season but did not travel to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl because of what was thought at the time to be a gastrointestinal condition
