Georgia Bulldogs play in SEC Championship Game, Miami Here We Come!!!

Georgia Bulldogs Title Within Reach!

My Bulldogs have made it, well to the SECC that is but nonetheless it's one step closer to playing in the Big dance in Miami come January.

Georgia took care of Business and destroyed Georgia Yech once again 42-10, what is that 10 out of 11 games we own!  Just another day at the office and domination by the Bulldawgs with Murray passing for a few TD's, Gurshall taking it to the endzone multiple times and our D took care of a weak offense power.

Ogletree’s 15 tackles is the most by a Bulldog this season. Robinson also had 13 tackles and defensive lineman John Jenkins added 11 tackles. But Ogletree was the star as many of his were worthy of making highlight reels. “Tree (Ogletree) is a really good player,” Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said. “When you get a linebacker like that against that kind of offense (option) and you can get him in the alley, there’s really no answers. Once we kind of got a feel for what they were doing, I think we pretty much shut them down.”

Improbably, Georgia In Mix For BCS Title

ATHENS, Ga. (AP)
Fox Sports Link

Alabama was supposed to be the best team in the country. Then Oregon and Kansas State got all the hype. Now it's Notre Dame looking down at everyone else. Plodding along quietly, barely noticed, is one other team that has a prime spot in the national championship race. The Georgia Bulldogs.

Coach Mark Richt's squad moved up to No. 3 in The Associated Press poll on Sunday and the same spot in the BCS standings. That leaves only three teams in control of their own destiny: top-ranked Notre Dame, second-ranked Alabama and Georgia. The Bulldogs need to beat Georgia Tech in the regular-season finale, then Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game to earn a shot at the big prize in Miami.

Richt is keenly aware of the hoopla that suddenly surrounds his team, so much so that he steadfastly refused to even address the national race on his weekly teleconference.

Georgia Bulldogs SEC East Champs Again!!

Here We Go Again!

The Dawgs are headed back to Atlanta again and in search of an SEC Trophy once again. It has taken a few years to get that trophy but I think this will be our Year to beat Alabama and head to the Glory Bowl.

If we take care of Business could there be a National Championship looming? Perhaps and even a chance at the Sugar Bowl or Fiesta if Lucky enough. We need to take care of Business First by beating GSU, Ga Tech than focus on Alabama!!

Georgia Bulldogs vs the Awburn Tigers this Saturday!

Time to Clinch The SEC East!!
Game Insight CBS Link

No. 5 Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC) at Auburn (2-7, 0-6 SEC) Kickoff: Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2) Spread: Georgia by 15.5 Watchability: Georgia sometimes plays down to its opposition (see: Kentucky, Tennessee). Will that tendency resurface with the SEC East at stake? Gator fans hope so, as an Auburn upset sends Florida to the SEC Championship Game. “To have an opportunity to go back to the Dome and win an SEC championship, it's right there at the tips of our fingers,” Georgia wideout Tavarres King told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We've just got to go get it.” Georgia forced nine turnovers in beating Florida and Ole Miss. Auburn true freshman quarterback Jonathan Wallace, who'll make his second start, might not be prepared for Georgia's speed after facing the WAC's worst team last week.

Shining stars: Georgia -- QB Aaron Murray. The SEC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week has 21 TD passes this season, 80 in his career. He leads all active SEC players in total offensive yards (8,873), completions (610), TD responsibility (90, which is tied for fifth in SEC history), and passing yards (8,646). But he just lost WR Marlon Brown (27 catches, 469 yards, 4 TDs) to a season-ending knee injury. Auburn -- RB Tre Mason. The 5-10, 198-pound sophomore averages 5.6 yards per carry and has run for five TDs in the past four games. Last week he broke out for a career-high 152 yards on 22 carries.
Who could steal the show: Georgia -- Malcolm Mitchell. The sophomore does it all. At wideout he's caught 26 passes for 358 yards and two scores. He's started three games at corner, and he's returned 11 kickoffs for 236 yards. For the season, Mitchell has spent 178 snaps on defense, 123 on special teams and 122 on offense. Auburn -- QB Wallace. The 6-2 freshman has hit 16 of 26 throws for 297 yards and three TDS, with one INT, and run for 115 yards. He's dangerous on designed keepers. After the offense floundered behind Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley, the Tigers have rallied around Wallace. You going? Ranking the road trip: It's been a miserable season at Auburn, but Jordan-Hare Stadium will come alive for this 120-year-old rivalry.

This game has decided a conference or division title 20 times, with Georgia going 11-8-1 in those contests. Magic number for Georgia: 5. A win would send Georgia to the SEC title game for the fifth time in coach Mark Richt's 12-year tenure. Magic number for Auburn: 95. That's Auburn's national ranking in pass efficiency defense (141.6), which doesn't bode well against Murray. Auburn has one interception this season, by linebacker Daren Bates.

The game comes down to: The Bulldogs should be able to move the ball at will, even after losing their second key wideout for the year. Freshman Todd Gurley leads SEC running backs with 95.2 rushing yards per game. Auburn, which is minus-4 in turnover margin compared to Georgia's plus-9, must win the turnover battle to keep it close. Prediction: Georgia 34, Auburn 20

Georgia Florida Game..It All Comes Down To This!

And it all comes down to this.
Bleacher Report

The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs will meet once again in Everbank Field, in what will likely decide who ends up winning the SEC East and earning a trip to the SEC Championship Game. This has always been one of the more exciting rivalries in college football, but with so much on the line, this is a must-watch game for every fan during Week 9 of the regular season.

Both teams are also ranked in the Top 10 of the latest BCS rankings, which means there are national championship implications on the line as well. Regardless of what happens, we should expect a close contest, as eight of the last 10 meetings have been decided by 12 points or less.

As we approach kickoff, here are all of the predictions for the big Georgia-Florida matchup.

Georgia Holds Off Kentucky...Barely!

By SETH EMERSON LEXINGTON, Ky.
 Article

 – All week, Georgia juxtaposed its own game on Saturday with another one, with perhaps more importance for its long-term hopes. That meant that even before the Bulldogs took the field against Kentucky, it had been a good day:

They once again had control of their destiny in the SEC East race. Then the Bulldogs almost proceeded to give back control. It took a standout performance from quarterback Aaron Murray, a break on special teams and a heady play by a former walk-on. But Georgia still narrowly escaped Kentucky, 29-24.

“You know what? I’m happy with the victory,” head coach Mark Richt said. “What are we now, 6-1? That’s a good thing.” Coupled with Florida’s win over South Carolina, the day went very well for Georgia. And it makes next week’s showdown with Florida in Jacksonville a de facto SEC championship game.

Georgia's Todd Gurley draws raves, comparisons to Trent Richardson

Georgia's Todd Gurley draws raves, comparisons to Trent Richardson
By Mike Herndon, Press-Register al.com

Georgia's Todd Gurley was named the SEC's freshman of the week after running for 130 yards and two touchdowns against Vanderbilt. (Associated Press) Georgia running back Todd Gurley continues to turn heads throughout the SEC -- the latest belonging to Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, who watched the true freshman run through his defense for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 48-3 win.

"I do think the back makes a tremendous difference," Franklin said of Gurley, who has now run for more than 100 yards in three of his four games. "You're talking about a 230-pound guy who gets downhill and is as big and as impressive a freshman running back as I've seen." Tennessee defensive coordinator and former Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri, whose Vols have the next shot at trying to slow down Gurley, compared him this week to former Crimson Tide great Trent Richardson, according to CBS' Daniel Lewis. Gurley's Georgia teammate, safety Shawn Williams, made the same comparison before the season.

Georgia Football: 7 Keys to Winning the Buffalo Game!

The Georgia Bulldogs come into their season opener against the Buffalo Bulls favored big, and rightly so. Playing out of the MAC, the Bulls only managed three wins last season. Buffalo is breaking in a new starting quarterback, junior Alex Zordich, who served as a backup last season.

And the Bulls will be without arguably their best defensive player, linebacker Khalil Mack, who will be serving a one-game suspension for violation of team rules. Make no mistake; this is a tune-up game for the Dawgs. But there’s more to winning this game than just being ahead on the scoreboard when the clock hits all zeros.

The Bulldogs travel to Columbia in Week 2 to take on a very good Missouri team. Georgia needs to take full advantage of the Buffalo game to prepare for its SEC opener with the Tigers. Here are seven keys for Georgia to “win” this game and take away as much from it as possible headed into 2012.

What could make game day in Athens even better?

Just a little over a week from now a large segment of the Bulldog Nation will reconvene in Athens to cheer the Dawgs on Between the Hedges. It’s a time of year when optimism runs high and fans eagerly look forward to the tailgating, Dawg Walk, ringing the chapel bell and all the other traditions that make up game day at UGA. It’s hard to beat a fall day in the Classic City watching SEC football.

As my friend Steve put it this week: “How do you improve what’s already the greatest place and college stadium in America?” Other devotees of the red and black think there’s room for improvement and that UGA perhaps ought to be looking at what some of its SEC neighbors are doing to improve the game day experience for their fans.

They’ve noted that Auburn is adding wireless internet access in the stadium and will allow fans to bring in tablets or even laptops. AU is also doing stadium tours on Friday nights and even experimenting with serving dinner on the field to donors and eventually …

Gut Penn Sate Football!

Penn State Shame..It's Time To Payup and Take Action for What You've Done!
Article Link

Joe Paterno is dead and so is what was left of his good name, shredded to pieces by investigators who didn't seem terribly impressed by anything the coach once did on Saturday afternoons. Jerry Sandusky will spend what is left of the rest of his life in prison, paying for crimes so despicable they are hard to even comprehend. Some former Penn State administrators could be heading there, too.

After Louis Freeh's damning report, they might want to think twice about taking their chances before a jury of their peers. The cult allowed to fester at State College has been exposed, with a once-proud university looking like a backwater institution where worshipping at the statue of Joe was more important than protecting young boys exposed to horrors that will haunt them the rest of their lives.

Paterno's family can protest all it wants, but there is no way to spin this: He hurt a place where his word was gospel, and it may be decades before anyone outside Pennsylvania hears the words "Penn State" and doesn't immediately think of naked boys being abused in the same showers used by the young men who brought the university glory on the football field

Georgia Football 2012: Can Mark Richt Win a BCS Championship?

Bleacher Report Article Link

Georgia football seems light years removed from the Bulldog team that finished 2010 a disappointing 6-7. But has a perception been born that Mark Richt isn’t capable of leading this program to a national championship?

In a recent Bleacher Report article, a survey of 554 respondents indicated that 79 people—14.3%—felt that Georgia had the talent to win the SEC this year, but not the coaching. That number seems surprisingly high to me. Richt has been the coach at Georgia since the 2001 season. In his 11 years, his teams have gone 106-38.

That’s just four games shy of averaging 10-3 a season for that time. Les Miles, who has coached major college teams for the same 11 years—with the past eight years in the SEC—is 103-39. Since 2001, the Bulldogs have won the SEC East Championship 4 times.

Their record in the conference championship game is 2-2 with Richt as coach.

Isiah Crowell Kicked off Bulldogs Team..Good Ridance

ESPN Article Link

Former Georgia coach and athletic director Vince Dooley said RB Isaiah Crowell getting arrested and kicked off the team may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, according to a newspaper report. "I don't want to put any pressure on them, but losing that guy may have been the best thing to happen to them.
It was a bad-apple type thing, if you ask me. " Vince Dooley, former Georgia coach and athletic director Crowell, a rising sophomore and former five-star recruit who was the Bulldogs' leading rusher last season, was dismissed by head coach Mark Richt after Crowell was arrested on felony weapons charges.

Crowell has since transferred to Alabama State, a Football Championship Subdivision-level program in Montgomery, Ala., and started classes Monday. Crowell will be eligible to play this season, instead of sitting out the required year if he transferred to another Football Bowl Subdivision school.

Georgia Bulldogs Recruiting Class On Top Again!

Top 5 Recruiting Class

Article Link
SB Nation
Feb 2, 2012 - Mark Richt may have developed a reputation for getting plenty of blue-chip talent to commit to Georgia well in advance of National Signing Day, but never let it be said the man doesn't know how to close. Amidst the drama of Signing Day, Richt convinced one undecided five-star recruit, Josh Harvey-Clemons, to sign with the Bulldogs (uh, we think), and swung a pair of four-stars from previous commitments -- cornerback Sheldon Dawson from Memphis and defensive end Josh Dawson from James Franklin's burgeoning recruiting machine at Vanderbilt.

There were a few misses, the biggest being offensive tackle Avery Young, who ended up choosing Auburn but whom the Dawgs really could've used right away to rebuild a line losing three seniors from last year's team. Auburn also held on to JaQuay Williams, a receiver the Dawgs had been trying to lure away, and beat out Georgia in the pitched battle to lure Will Adams away from Georgia Tech. Nevertheless, ESPN and Rivals both have Georgia's class ranked in the nation's top 10, while Scout has them just outside at No. 13. Here's the rundown on Georgia's 18 signees, plus the guy they're hoping will become the 19th sometime today.

DT John Atkins (6'4", 300), Thomson, Ga.
The Dawgs loaded up on defense in this class, signing six guys who played on the defensive line in high school. Many of them will shift to a linebacker role in Georgia's 3-4 system, but with his size, it's safe to say Atkins won't.

K/P Collin Barber (6'2", 191), Cartersville, Ga.
Special teams don't get a lot of attention on National Signing Day, but Barber fills a position of great need for the Dawgs, as he's slated to take over punting duties from former Ray Guy Award winner Drew Butler.

QB Faton Bauta (6'3", 225), West Palm Beach, Fla.
The extremely mobile Bauta drew Tim Tebow comparisons as a senior, but before that he played extensively at linebacker and fullback; he'll have plenty of options, position-wise, when he gets to Athens.

OG Mark Beard (6'4", 290), Coffeyville, Kan.
Georgia's lone JUCO transfer of 2012 stands to play right away on an offensive line depleted by graduation; a valuable pickup for Georgia, as he's got three years of eligibility left.

DE Josh Dawson (6'4", 225), Tucker, Ga.
Pulled the trigger on a long-rumored switch from Vanderbilt yesterday. Will make an excellent addition to an increasingly formidable linebacking corps.

ATH/CB Sheldon Dawson (5'11", 169), Memphis, Tenn.
Made his switch from Memphis official on the eve of Signing Day. He's the only defensive back of the 2012 class, though he'll join a big group of DBs from last year's "Dream Team."

DE James DeLoach (6'3", 260), Millen, Ga.
Brought teammate Jonathan Taylor with him when he committed to Georgia last summer. Could play either defensive end or linebacker when he arrives in Athens, depending on how much muscle he adds before then.

DE Leonard Floyd (6'4", 215), Eastman, Ga.
A four-star prospect who chose Georgia over Alabama, Florida and South Carolina; likely to spend the majority of his time at linebacker with the Dawgs, but he caught 29 passes for 549 yards and three scores as a WR/TE his junior year of high school.

RB Todd Gurley (6'1", 195), Tarboro, N.C.
Surprised more than a few folks by selecting the Dawgs over Auburn, Clemson and North Carolina State. Ranked as the No. 5 running back prospect in the nation.

LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (6'5", 208), Valdosta, Ga.
On a day that didn't lack for suspense to begin with, the saga of Harvey-Clemons, rated as the top prospect in the state by ESPN, turned things downright dramatic. Wednesday morning, Harvey-Clemons announced his commitment to Georgia in a nationally televised ceremony at Lowndes High School, but by mid-afternoon reporters were murmuring that he still hadn't sent in a signed letter of intent. Soon after, they learned the reason: Harvey-Clemons' grandfather, Woodrow Clemons -- his legal guardian -- was refusing to sign the LOI, wanting his grandson to stay closer to home by signing with Florida or Florida State. Depending on which analyst or anonymous source you cite, Georgia is still the clubhouse leader for Harvey-Clemons' services, though one imagines that didn't make Mark Richt sleep any better Wednesday night.

So if Harvey-Clemons doesn't end up signing with the Dawgs, does that take all the air out of the 2012 class? It'd certainly have an effect on national perceptions -- ESPN, which counts JHC as a Georgia signee, ranks Georgia's class fifth in the nation; Rivals, which isn't counting him yet, has the overall class down at No. 19. Between Georgia's existing defensive players, who made a huge leap forward in year two of Todd Grantham's system, and the blue-chip recruits they signed in 2011's "Dream Team," the defense certainly isn't hurting for talent, but Harvey-Clemons is described as the kind of guy who could make an immediate impact at linebacker. With his grandfather still incommunicado as of Thursday morning, it looks like we'll all just have to wait and see.

FB Quayvon Hicks (6'2", 245), Blackshear, Ga.
Hicks, the No. 2 fullback prospect in the country according to Rivals, was recruited by a number of schools as a defensive end or linebacker, but Georgia wanted to keep him at fullback, and he went for it. He could compete for the starting job as a freshman with last year's starter, Bruce Figgins, having graduated.

DE Jordan Jenkins (6'3", 245), Hamilton, Ga.
This four-star prospect was a huge get for the Dawgs, as he'd also made official visits to Alabama, Auburn and Florida. Depending on whom you ask, he was this year's top recruit in the state of Georgia, and he impressed with eight tackles and two sacks in the Under Armour All-American game last month.

RB Keith Marshall (5'11", 190), Raleigh N.C.
The nation's No. 2 running back prospect according to Rivals, and the other half of the Tarheel State tailback duo that will make for a crowded offensive backfield in Athens this summer. Whereas good friend Tudd Gurley is more of a pound-it-between-the-tackles runner, Marshall is described as the kind of runner who has the speed to make big gains on the edge.

K Marshall Morgan (6'3", 195), Miami, Fla.
Having signed a replacement for Drew Butler, the Dawgs also found their replacement for Blair Walsh. As a junior, Morgan nailed 15 of 16 field goals and 63 of 64 PATs, and just for good measure averaged 43.7 yards per punt.

OG Greg Pyke (6'6", 315), Baltimore, Md.
One of the potential sleepers of the 2012 class. He's got the size to play right away; if he can add some athleticism between now and September, he could push Georgia's existing guards for playing time.

TE Ty Smith (6'3", 228), Moultrie, Ga.
The nation's 12th-ranked tight end prospect picked the Dawgs over Florida and joins what will be a packed house at TE, even with Orson Charles and Aron White graduating.

DT Jonathan Taylor (6'4", 315), Millen, Ga.
Joined his teammate James DeLoach in signing with the Dawgs, turning down Alabama, Auburn and Florida in doing so. Could be a prime candidate for taking over the all-important nose tackle position once John Jenkins and Kwame Geathers graduate.

OT John Theus (6'6", 292), Jacksonville, Fla.
The centerpiece of Georgia's 2012 signing class, Theus turned down offers from Notre Dame, Florida and USC (among many others) to join his brother, who signed with Georgia as a long snapper last year. The Dawgs have vacancies to fill at both starting tackle positions, and Theus is described as someone who could fill either one right away.

WR Blake Tibbs (6'2", 185), Lithonia, Ga.
The Dawgs' only wideout commitment of 2012, his presence was of particular importance once C.J. Curry flipped his commitment to Oklahoma State over the summer. Tibbs began his senior season as Lithonia's Martin Luther King High School by scoring six TDs in his first two games.
